Welcome!
Welcome to this website! My name is Gerd Butzeck, and I’m running for President of the International Handball Federation (IHF) at the upcoming IHF Congress in Cairo this December. Handball has been my lifelong passion for over 50 years—whether as a player, coach, referee, manager, official, or in many other roles. After 25 years under the current IHF leadership, my team and I believe it’s time for change. We’re united under the motto: “Handball Deserves More.” Following many conversations with stakeholders from around the world who encouraged me to take this step, I’ve decided to officially enter the race for IHF President.
Handball Deserves More—In Many Ways! We need improved structure and governance within the IHF, a stronger global strategy, new disciplines to reach new regions, fan-friendly rules, and—most importantly—continued inclusion in the Olympic Games. On this website, you’ll find detailed insights into my objectives and vision for the future of handball.
